Yah Is Green … Are Ewe?

So when men began to be multiplied upon the earth, and there were daughters born unto them, Then the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and they took them wives of all that they liked. Therefore the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, because he is but flesh, and his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days: yea, and after that the sons of God came unto the daughters of men, and they had borne them children, these were mighty men, which in old time were men of renown. When the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and all the imaginations of the thoughts of his (אדם – Adam, human beings) heart were only evil continually, Then it repented the Lord, that he had made man in the earth, and he was sorry in his heart. Therefore the Lord said, I will destroy from the earth the man, whom I have created, from man to beast, to the creeping thing, and to the fowl of the heaven: for I repent that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just and upright man in his time: and Noah walked with God. And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God: for the earth was filled with cruelty. Then God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt: for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, An end of all flesh is come before me: for the earth is filled with cruelty through them: and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an Ark of pine trees: thou shalt make cabins in the Ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And thus shalt thou make it: the length of the Ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. A window shalt thou make in the Ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above, and the door of the Ark shalt thou set in the side thereof: thou shalt make it with the low, second, and third room. And I, behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life under heaven: all that is in the earth shall perish. But with thee will I establish my covenant, and thou shalt go into the Ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee. And of every living thing of all flesh two of every sort shalt thou cause to come into the Ark, to keep them alive with thee: they shall be male and female. Of the fowls, after their kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, that thou mayest keep them alive. And take thou with thee of all meat that is eaten: and thou shalt gather it to thee, that it may be meat for thee and for them. Noah therefore did according unto all that God commanded him: even so did he. B’resheit/Genesis 6:1-22 (GNV)

The Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit [Ruach means breath, wind, spirit] was not going to attempt any longer (in red) to convince humanity to stop sinning against Him. Mankind is only flesh and blood and his days would be shortened to 120 years. This statement by Yah seems to imply the flood would happen at the end of 120 years from the time of this judgment concerning the violence of man. From the time we were expelled from the garden, we became more defiant towards the Eternal. Our wickedness towards authority (in magenta) is a collective problem, as we are all leaning towards evil in our thoughts constantly. Apparently the human invitation to sin had already corrupted the other creatures that lived above the surface of the water. How deeply ingrained this contamination was (in blue) we can only speculate on. Are we looking at humanities first tinkerings with genetic engineering? Is this possibly what the judgment was declared over?

The Creator is in control, that is why there are limits to what He will allow His creation to manipulate. One man found חן – chen/grace/favor in the eyes of Yah and so he and his family were spared the judgment. Wait a second … there were also birds and land dwelling creatures that were spared. Is not man the only creature important to Elohim? So why was Yah concerned with sparing wildlife? Uh-oh, have we misrepresented what Scripture says? Something to ponder – is it not?

Why do so many who proclaim their belief that Y’shua is the promised Mashiach teach that grace never comes until the arrival of the Son in the flesh? The Salvation of Noach, his family, and the other creatures on the ark is the Most High giving grace/favor way back at the time of the flood judgement. They were saved from the predicament they were facing as human beings by the Almighty in His mercy. This is because He is establishing a B’rit/Covenant with all surface dwelling members of His creation. We will revisit this Covenant later in this writing.

Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth. For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.” And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him. Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth. So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth, two by two they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were on the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights. On the very same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark— they and every beast after its kind, all cattle after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort. And they went into the ark to Noah, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life. So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in. Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered. And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive. And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.
B’resheit/Genesis 7:1-24 (NKJV)

Noach was found to be righteous (in red) in the eyes of Yah, this is why he and his family were spared. His mission was to build the structure according to the instructions he received from the Eternal. In addition gathering and storage of the necessary food for all the inhabitants of the vessel was also part of this assignment. As before, we posed the question … why was Salvation provided for non human beings? How many theological teachings ascribe to the thought that Salvation is only for people? And he said to them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15 (WBT) This is Y’shua giving the directive that the Good News/Gospel is not restricted to human beings. Every organism that lived on the land and required oxygen to breath (in magenta) died by drowning in the flood. Only those land dwelling creatures on the ark were spared from death. Once again we point out that Yah saved other living entities besides human beings.

And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged; the fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained. And the waters returned from off the earth continually; and after the end of a hundred and fifty days the waters decreased. And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen. And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made. And he sent forth a raven, and it went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth. And he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground. But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him to the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth; and he put forth his hand, and took her, and brought her in unto him into the ark. And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark. And the dove came in to him at eventide; and lo in her mouth an olive-leaf freshly plucked; so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; and she returned not again unto him any more. And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the face of the ground was dried. And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dry. And God spoke unto Noah, saying: Go forth from the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee. Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee of all flesh, both fowl, and cattle, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may swarm in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.’ And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him; every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, whatsoever moveth upon the earth, after their families; went forth out of the ark. And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt-offerings on the altar. And the LORD smelled the sweet savour; and the LORD said in His heart: ‘I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.’ B’resheit/Genesis 8:1-22 (JPS)

It was now safe to leave the ark (in red) and Elohim commands Noach to take his family and all the other creatures off the ark, so that they can begin to produce offspring again. In gratitude Noach builds an altar to present an offering to Yah from the clean beasts and birds. The Eternal acknowledges the offering and announces that He will never again use this same judgment against the living beings because of man’s sin. He still calls us evil in our hearts and is applying mercy in the situation. What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “Do not covet.” But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart from law, sin is dead. Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful. We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. Romans 7:7-16 (NIV)

Why do people who profess the Bible as their basis of faith … hate rules? Yet they will immediately condemn those who violate the very rules they despise? I believe this is the definition of a hypocrite or someone who is two faced. The first law/instruction/Torah violated by humanity involved eating a piece of fruit which they were told not to eat. By breaking this rule, death was allowed to enter our existence. Death was not part of creation but the punishment for going against the Eternal’s rules. Once we were expelled from the garden, our rebellion achieved new depths of evil. There is no reward in dying as we are not immortal souls. We will NOT go to heaven when we die. We have to wait, like everyone else, for the resurrection. Judgment does not take place when a person dies as all will be judged regardless of whether they are righteous or wicked. The business of sin is death, and the endowment of Allaha is Life eternal through our Maran Eashoa Msheekha (Master Y’shua HaMashiach). Romans 6:23 (ANT) To earn wages means to do business, so sin is how we deal with the business of Elohim improperly. Since sin was introduced into the world through a meal, why do people think that weightier matters will not be judged likewise. We are what we eat … and we ate death.

And Elohim blessed Noah and his sons. And He said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. And your fear and your dread shall be on all the animals of the earth, and on every bird of the heavens, on all that moves on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hands. Every creeping thing which is alive shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green plant. But you shall not eat flesh in its life, its blood. And surely the blood of your lives I will demand. At the hand of every animal I will demand it, and at the hand of man. I will demand the life of man at the hand of every man’s brother. Whoever sheds man’s blood, his blood shall be shed by man; For He made the man in the image of Elohim. And you, be fruitful and multiply. Swarm over the earth and multiply in it. And Elohim spoke to Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, Behold! I, even I, am establishing My covenant with you, and with your seed after you, and with every living creature which is with you, among fowl, among cattle, and among every animal of the earth with you, from all that go out from the ark, to every animal of the earth. And I have established My covenant with you, and all flesh shall not be cut off again by the waters of a flood; nor shall there ever again be a flood to destroy the earth. And Elohim said, This is the sign of the covenant which I am about to make between Me and you, and every living soul which is with you, for everlasting generations. I have set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. And it will be when I gather the clouds on the earth, then the bow shall be seen in the clouds. And I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you, and every living soul in all flesh. And the waters shall not again become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the clouds, and I shall see it, to remember the everlasting covenant between Elohim and every living soul, in all flesh on the earth. And Elohim said to Noah, This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth. B’resheit/Genesis 9:1-17 (HRB)

The Covenant proclaimed to Noach (in red) is now given more detail since it was first announced. Again Yah reminds us this Covenant is with ALL CREATURES that live on the dry land, not just human beings. The symbol of this Covenant is the RAINBOW so that we and the Eternal can both see it and remember that a pact has been made. Then God said, “I have just given you every green plant yielding seed that is on the surface of the whole land, and every tree, which has the fruit of a tree yielding seed. They are to be food for you. Also for every wild animal, every flying creature of the sky and every creature that crawls on the land which has life, every green plant is to be food.” And it happened so. B’resheit/Genesis 1:29-30 (TLV) Green in our time has the implication of being environmentally friendly to plants and animals. Since the land based creatures require sustenance then is it appropriate to poison the land and water? A caretaker is responsible to his employer for his actions in regard to his duties. Humanity to frequently assumes we are the owner of the planet yet we were told by our maker … we are nothing but DUST.

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete. For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done. Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens.”
Mattityahu/Matthew 5:17-19 (ISR98)

Since B’resheit/Genesis is part of the Torah, then why do people, who claim to be believers, hold any actions that try to protect the environment as un-Biblical? Look! For to Yahweh your God {belong} heaven and the {highest heavens}, the earth and all that [is] in it. D’varim/Deuteronomy 10:14 (LEB) All Covenants established by Yah are kept by Him regardless if we do or not. Sometimes the Eternal keeps the Covenant by ending it because we violated it. This is why there are different Covenants at different times with different people. They are sometimes RENEWED because the Most High is merciful, not because we deserve it. If Yah said something in creation is good, why would he completely eliminate it? On the 3rd day He created the plants … are they not green?
