In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned nine years. And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, but not as the kings of Israel who were before him. Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him; and Hoshea became his vassal, and paid him tribute money. And the king of Assyria uncovered a conspiracy by Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So, king of Egypt, and brought no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison. Now the king of Assyria went throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria and besieged it for three years. In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. M’lakhim Bet/2 Kings 17:1-6 (NKJV)
Ironically the name of the king of Isra’el, at the time of the exile, is the same as the name of a prophet of the Northern Kingdom who had proclaimed Yah’s desire for the wayward wife to return to her husband. Unfortunately the people of the house of Isra’el did not change their ways and repent, which is why the punishment is taking place. Interestingly the name Hoshea translates as Salvation yet this is exactly the opposite of what occurs.
Notice in verse 6 of the above section of M’lakhim Bet, that the Assyrians places the Isra’elites in the land of Medes. If we move about one hundred fifty years later when the house of Y’hudah is in its own captivity, from Babylon to the Persian Empire, the Medes are a factor again. Yechezk’el/Ezekiel and Dani’el both deal with Medo-Persian authorities in their stays among their exiled brethren. Is it possible that some of the Medes who deal with the house of Y’hudah are Isra’elites from the Northern Kingdom? Both Yechezk’el and Dani’el are faced with the concerns of Y’hudah and the chance to return home after the 70 years. As with Yirmeyahu who was left with the poor back home, the future restoration of the people to the land is tied to the return of the exiles of the house of Isra’el.
Turning back to the Prophet Hoshea, who lived in the same time frame as Yesha’yahu/Isaiah; Amos, and Mikah; the theme of the splitting and reunifying of the twelve tribes is common to ALL the Prophets, Y’shua included. This is what the RENEWED COVENANT is all about and any others who benefit from this occurring should never assume that any promise has ever been set aside. Yah is not a man that he can lie, so those who say Isra’el has been replaced by a disobedient people does not understand who the Father is. How illogical it would be to give the promises of a disobedient people to another people no more obedient then they were. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?
For thus says the Lord, “Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, And shout among the chief of the nations; Proclaim, give praise and say, ‘O Lord, save Your people, The remnant of Israel.’ “Behold, I am bringing them from the north country, And I will gather them from the remote parts of the earth, Among them the blind and the lame, The woman with child and she who is in labor with child, together; A great company, they will return here. “With weeping they will come, And by supplication I will lead them; I will make them walk by streams of waters, On a straight path in which they will not stumble; For I am a father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn.” Yirmeyahu/Jeremiah 31:7-9 (NASB) Many people have been taught this passage is pertaining to the Jews returning to the land prior to the Rapture. Sadly this teaching is false, misleading, and causes people to expect events that are not in line with what Yah told his servants the Prophets to proclaim to us. The amazing thing is that the very people who want to say that they have replaced Isra’el probably actually are Isra’el. “For you know how we dwelt in the land of Mitsrayim and how we passed through the nations which you passed through, and you saw their abominations and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were with them, lest there should be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe, whose heart turns away today from יהוה our Elohim, to go and serve the mighty ones of these nations, lest there should be among you a root bearing bitterness or wormwood. And it shall be, when he hears the words of this curse, that he should bless himself in his heart, saying, ‘I have peace though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart,’ in order to add drunkenness to thirst. D’varim/Deuteronomy 29:16-19 (ISR98)
Thus saith the Lord, A voice was heard on high, a mourning, and bitter weeping. Rachel weeping for her children, refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. Thus saith the Lord, Refrain the voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord, and they shall come again from the land of the enemy: And there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord, that thy children shall come again to their own borders. I have heard Ephraim lamenting thus, Thou hast corrected me, and I was chastised as an untamed calf: convert thou me, and I shall be converted: for thou art the Lord my God. Surely after that I was converted, I repented, and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth. Is Ephraim my dear son or pleasant child? yet since I spake unto him, I still remembered him: therefore my bowels are troubled for him. I will surely have compassion upon him, saith the Lord. Yirmeyahu 31:15(14)-20(19) (GNV)
If Y’hudah is the focus of the aforementioned passage, then in this situation Rachel would be out of context as she is not the Matriarch of Y’hudah but of Efraim. The only members of the house of Y’hudah who would be Rachel’s children would be those descended of Binyamin. The statement then implies to both exiles as her descendants were part of both kingdoms. Since this section focuses on Efraim then the implication points to the Northern Kingdom. Hoshea deals with the eventual return of Efraim and his alliance after they have given up idolatry and this is what is holding up the restoration.
Behold, the days come, says YAHWEH, that I will cut a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not according to the covenant that I cut with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt (which covenant of Mine they broke, although I was to be a husband to them, says YAHWEH). But this shall be the covenant that I will cut with the house of Israel: After those days, declares YAHWEH, I will put My Torah in their inward parts, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people. And they shall no longer each man teach his neighbor, and each man his brother, saying, Know YAHWEH. For they shall all know Me, from the least of them even to the greatest of them, declares YAHWEH. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sins no more†. So says YAHWEH, who gives the sun for a light by day, the laws of the moon, and the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar,YAHWEH of Hosts is His name†. If these ordinances depart from before Me, says YAHWEH, the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before Me forever. So says YAHWEH, If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be searched out, I will also reject all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, declares YAHWEH†. Yirmeyahu 31:30(31)-36(37) (HRB)
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.” Mattityahu 10:5-7 (NIV) And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away, for she is crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” And he answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly. Mattityahu 15:21-28 (ESV) After breakfast, Yeshua said to Shim
on Kefa, "Shimon Bar-Yochanan, do you love me more than these?” He replied, “Yes, Lord, you know I’m your friend.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” A second time he said to him, “Shim
on BarYochanan, do you love me?" He replied, "Yes, Lord, you know I'm your friend." He said to him, "Shepherd my sheep." The third time he said to him, "Shimon BarYochanan, are you my friend?” Shim`on was hurt that he questioned him a third time: “Are you my friend?” So he replied, “Lord, you know everything! You know I’m your friend!” Yeshua said to him, “Feed my sheep! Yochanan/John 21:15-17 (CJB)
In the previous incidents Y’shua is instructing his talmidim/disciples that their mission from him is the same that his Father gave to him, and that is to bring back the lost sheep of the house of Isra’el. If this had already been accomplished, why then after his resurrection does he tell Kefa/Peter to continue pursuing this same agenda. Also when Yechezk’el writes of rejoining of the two sticks, that event will bring about the millennial kingdom and peace. However both Yechezk’el and Yochanan inform us that the battle of Gog and Magog will take place after the millennial reign which will then be followed by what is referred to as the White Throne Judgment. One problem that arises when discussing this time line is most have been taught that the two houses have already been reunited, and to most this is unacceptable because they have been taught the next event to look for is the battle of Gog and Magog. This all stems from the teaching that the RENEWED COVENANT is already in full effect, which is false.
False teaching has caused to many to expect scenarios out of line with what scripture tells us. Expectations are built up and then crushed when events prophesied by false prophets do not pan out as they were never from Yah to begin with. The idea that most of scripture is allegorical causes people to mistrust the Word and allows them vain fantasies. All scripture should be treated as literal unless the text itself informs us otherwise. One of the main attacks on the Bible is the modern critical analysis that all discrepancies invalidate the writings. This method does not allow for looking at the different individuals who wrote what we read as not being allowed to put his message down using their own mental understanding in their descriptions of what they were shown. Using this criteria in the court room allows for to many potentially guilty individuals to escape justice and needs to be corrected. Perspective does not make someones statements false as they may have focused on other aspects of events they witnessed. To be fair, we must permit ourselves the opportunity to examine the material with an unbiased open mind.
Sha’ul presented his argument for scriptural examination by each individual who would then make their own decision as to whether they believed the accounts before them. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of Elohim still allows the individual to decide whether they believe or not. A giant hammer is not waiting to fall on you when you have doubt because you will be given the opportunity to reassess your own decision. Yah is much more merciful then people give him credit for being, while still maintaining just authority. He is not mocked in either direction, so carefully contemplate every conclusion you come to.
Despite numerous attempts by many individuals to point out the context of the Prophetic Announcements to be in line with Yah’s will many still dispute these presentations. It is my personal belief that the major reason for these challenges is that most people want a free ride through life and beyond. The major culprit, in my opinion, is the belief in the immortal soul; which creates doubt in the minds of human beings that there is an end game. As long as people expect a reward no matter what they do in life, they will never want what Yah has actually promised. I must constantly battle my own disappointment in my fellow man for not accepting the creators plan, so I must resist the frustration I feel because I care for other people. In no way is this meant to declare that I feel superior to anyone else but because of what I believe, I do not want to see any suffer. With this in mind I feel that I am in line with what Y’shua told us about the Father when he stated he is not willing that any should perish.
As always these teachings are meant to challenge and encourage others to study for themselves and check me out. What keeps me going in my studies is that those of you out there that read these at least are stimulated by what I present. Thank you for allowing me to have a place in your pursuit of the truth and may you be blessed and encouraged.
